Clinical Supervision for MFTCs and LPCCs in Colorado
Guiding You in the Process of Becoming a Licensed Therapist
As a pre-licensed therapist you are learning and managing a lot
Between balancing laws & ethics, to finding the populations you prefer to work with the most, navigating self-of-the-therapist topics, and figuring out what work-life balance actually looks like for you, you are juggling a lot of balls. This is a time in your career that is exciting and full of opportunity, but it can also, at times, be overwhelming. You deserve a supervisor who will walk beside you, guide you, and help to scaffold your skills so that by the time you have completed your hours, you feel capable, confident, and sure of yourself as a therapist.
What does supervision with me look like?
I originally went to graduate school to teach. I have always loved working with students and sharing information and knowledge and supporting them in growing towards their future careers. Along the way, I also became a therapist and realized how wonderful it was to get to work directly with clients. While I still love working with clients and teaching (and regularly do both), supervision is the natural bridge between these two passions. I am enthusiastic about providing supervision that focuses on ethical and professional development, systemic case management, and exploration of self-of-the-therapist topics as they occur in your cases.
This means that we can explore the nitty-gritty of how to effectively manage your caseload and figure out what work-life balance means for you. We will also discuss your cases with a focus on how systemic factors, including identities, experiences, and relationships, might influence your conceptualizations and interventions. I also welcome conversations related to your reactions to your clients and how to understand and manage these responses.
My goal is to build a healthy and productive professional relationship where you feel safe to share your struggles, fears, and questions. My goal is to provide you with new knowledge and skills, opportunities to grow, and to help you discover your own style and confidence in yourself as a therapist.
No two supervisor-supervisee relationships look exactly the same and I am collaborative with those I supervise. I want your supervision to provide you with what you are needing and looking for, while also ensuring that I meet the standards of helping you become a confident, ethical, and skilled therapist.
Cost = $120/hour for individual supervision; $75/hour for supplemental supervision
Group Supervision to help you develop your skills in a community.
In addition to individual supervision, I offer group supervision opportunities. Group supervision is appropriate for therapists working in a private practice setting or working at an agency who are looking to supplement their individual supervision. Though individual supervision is invaluable (and legally required!), group supervision can provide many benefits that you may not find in individual supervision settings.
Collaborating with a group can help you see your cases through different perspectives, of both the supervisor and the other clinicians in your group. This can help you to develop your decision making skills as often there is not one right or wrong way to approach a situation, but the reasoning and ethical decision making behind those decisions are important. In a group setting, you can learn from how others are handling things, learn from questions/experiences you may not have had or thought to ask, and share resources with others who are walking the same path.
Additionally, group supervision can help you to develop a support network of other therapists as you progress in your career. This can support you on many levels. You might be able to give or receive referrals from your colleagues, study for the licensure exam together, and feel less lonely in a field where we can’t always talk about our jobs to other people in our lives. It can also help you build a network of support that will keep you from practicing in isolation throughout your career. I still brainstorm, consult, and keep in touch with multiple therapists I met in my own group supervision experiences!
Lastly, group supervision is a great way to receive high quality supervision at a reduced fee. It is expensive being a pre-licensed clinician and supplementing your supervision requirements with group supervision can help to make the process more affordable to you. You can count up to 50 group hours, of the required 100 supervision hours for licensure in Colorado.
